The Electricity Crisis in Iraq: Psychological and Social Repercussions Exacerbated During Summer

A human rights center indicated that the crisis of electricity supply shortages in Iraq is considered a factor negatively affecting family stability, especially during the summer season, which witnesses a significant rise in temperatures. The center explained that frequent power outages impose considerable psychological pressure on citizens, particularly low-income individuals who lack alternatives for energy provision, which may contribute to increased tensions and instances of domestic violence. The center called for the necessity of finding radical solutions to this crisis, which has persisted for years, to improve the living reality and alleviate the psychological and social burdens on citizens.
