A New Oil Pipeline to Turkey.. A Strategic Project, Will it Secure the Future of Coming Generations?
Citizens are engaged in conversations and discussions regarding international proposals to construct a massive oil pipeline transporting Basra's oil to Turkish ports to distance it from tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and Gulf waters. Many members of the Iraqi street believe that finding multiple export outlets for our wealth is a necessary safety valve to protect the people's sustenance from any external threats and sea closures due to political conflicts. However, at the same time, voices are rising demanding genuine guarantees that the revenues of this giant project, which will cost billions of dollars, be harnessed to serve the country and develop deprived provinces, rather than becoming a new avenue for corruption and the squandering of public funds. The Iraqi citizen aspires to see strategic plans ensuring Iraq remains economically strong, providing a stable future environment worthy of the aspirations of coming generations, far from the nightmares of wars and severed livelihoods.
