US Treasury Issues General License Allowing the Import of Iranian Crude Oil and Petrochemicals
The US Department of the Treasury announced the issuance of a general license authorizing the production, supply, and sale of crude oil, petrochemicals, and petroleum products of Iranian origin for a specified period. The department clarified that the transactions permitted under this license include the importation of these vital products into the United States. This step follows earlier reports indicating intensive discussions between both sides to lift restrictions on Iran's energy sector exports during recent negotiation rounds in Switzerland. The talks focused primarily on establishing mechanisms to unfreeze Iranian assets, coinciding with the issuance of necessary licenses to resume the sale of oil and petrochemical products in global markets.
