The American conditions included categorical guarantees that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons, the immediate and unconditional opening of the Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, and the removal of any naval mines. Regarding the nuclear program, Trump mandated the destruction of enriched materials located in underground facilities—previously subjected to US strikes—which are to be extracted under US and Chinese technical supervision and in full cooperation with the Iranian government and the International Atomic Energy Agency.
