Al-Sadr Announces Complete Integration of "Saraya Al-Salam" into State Institutions and Separation from the National Shiite Movement

The leader of the National Shiite Movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, announced on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the complete disengagement of the "Saraya Al-Salam" formations from the movement and their full integration into state institutions under the command of the general officer in charge of military formations. In an official statement, Al-Sadr clarified that this step stems from the supreme national interest and aims to avert looming threats to the country. He emphasized that the decision aligns with a broader vision to strengthen state authority and confine military operations to official institutions. Furthermore, civilian entities affiliated with "Saraya Al-Salam" will be integrated into a new civilian structure, operating without military bases, weapons, uniforms, or organizational titles.
