Civil Aviation Authority Continues Efforts to Complete Operational Requirements for Mosul International Airport in Accordance with Global Standards
The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed its continuous and intensive efforts to monitor the rehabilitation and operation project of Mosul International Airport through its technical and specialized committees in coordination with relevant authorities. The Authority emphasized that all procedures undertaken are based on prevailing laws and the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization to ensure the highest levels of security, safety, and operational efficiency, considering aviation safety requirements a top priority from which no exceptions can be made to ensure passenger safety. The Authority revealed intensive diplomatic endeavors with regional countries to obtain exceptional approvals to accelerate operational procedures and facilitate the travel of pilgrims; however, these attempts were unsuccessful due to the lack of required approvals. The Authority reaffirmed its full commitment to supporting the reopening of the airport, emphasizing that the actual commencement of flights remains strictly contingent upon fulfilling all regulatory conditions and international safety standards.
