Al-Kadhimi Acknowledges Executive Errors in "Qi Card" Case, Calls for Avoiding Retaliatory Politics

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi has acknowledged practical errors in the handling of the case involving businessman Bahaa Abdul Hussein, owner of the "Qi Card" company. In recent press statements, Al-Kadhimi directed political messages to Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi, urging him to steer clear of retaliatory politics and emphasizing the importance of a constructive, critical review of past periods. He stressed that government work inherently involves both successes and mistakes, noting that state-building relies primarily on institutional accumulation across successive administrations. Regarding the controversial files from his tenure, specifically the work of the Major Crimes Investigation Committee headed by Lieutenant General Ahmed Abu Ragheef, Al-Kadhimi clarified that the general framework of the procedures was sound. However, he admitted that implementation errors and missteps occurred on the part of junior staff members, particularly in the details concerning the "Qi Card" case.
