Barzani Affirms Kurdistan Region's Readiness to Hand Over Half of Financial Revenues to Federal Government to Secure Salaries
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, confirmed the region's readiness to hand over half of its financial revenues to the federal government in Baghdad, in exchange for guaranteeing the uninterrupted disbursement of salaries for the region's employees. Barzani clarified that the regional government is showing complete flexibility to ensure the continued financial flow for salaries. These remarks were made during an official visit to the capital, Baghdad, where he met with several senior officials and political leaders. The discussions focused on the general budget, the region's financial dues, oil export mechanisms, and ways to regulate the financial relationship between Baghdad and Erbil. The visit included a series of intensive political meetings aimed at reaching new understandings regarding the outstanding financial disputes, particularly concerning securing salaries and stabilizing federal funding for the region.
