Two Drowning Fatalities and Two Rescues Reported Across Three Provinces
River Police sources reported on Friday two tragic drowning incidents involving young men, alongside the successful rescue of two others in separate incidents across three Iraqi provinces. Authorities confirmed that the first fatality occurred in the Tigris River within the capital, Baghdad, while the second was recorded in the Zab River near Kirkuk province. Meanwhile, rescue teams successfully saved two young men from drowning in the Nazim Al-Soudour area, northeast of Diyala province. Recent weeks have seen a significant increase in drowning incidents across several provinces, notably Nineveh, Dhi Qar, Diyala, and Saladin. In response, the River Police have declared a state of high alert, repeatedly warning the public against the dangers of swimming in deep rivers and strong currents, a practice that typically surges during the warmer months.
