Government Initiative to Launch a Comprehensive Information System to Regulate the Labor Market and Reduce Unemployment in Iraq
The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs announced the initiation of a comprehensive information system for the Iraqi labor market, in coordination with the Ministries of Planning, Health, Higher Education, and specialized international organizations. Deputy Minister Huda Sajjad confirmed that the new system will cover all provinces and aims to build a unified database that helps organize informal labor and aligns educational outputs with actual market needs. She noted that current steps include classifying professions and counting job seekers, explaining that this strategic project will play a pivotal role in protecting workers' rights, reducing unemployment rates, and curbing the arbitrary reliance on foreign labor.
