Google Moves Toward Developing Independent Inference Chips in Challenge to Nvidia and Enhancement of Tech Sovereignty
Google seeks to reduce its dependence on Nvidia by cooperating with Marvell to develop AI chips specialized in inference, a step that is part of a broader strategy to build technological sovereignty in AI infrastructure.
The inference market is one of the fastest growing sectors, with Morgan Stanley estimating that Agentic AI could add between $32.5 to $60 billion to the data center processor market, which currently exceeds $100 billion, by 2030.
This step comes in the context of fierce competition between tech giants to control the entire AI value chain. While Microsoft and Amazon seek to develop their own solutions, Google is trying to strengthen its position through strategic partnerships with specialized chip companies.
