Parliamentary Demands to Review the Privatization of Traffic Departments Following Increased Official Transaction Costs
Member of Parliament Mohammed Jassim Al-Khafaji criticized the management mechanism of traffic departments in Iraq, pointing out that referring these departments to investment during the previous government's tenure has led to a noticeable increase in financial burdens on citizens. He clarified that applicants are now required to pay fees amounting to 35,000 dinars per transaction. He added that these procedures have harmed citizens' interests and caused a waste of state lands by granting them as exceptions, affirming his intention to reveal further details later. This stance coincides with ongoing parliamentary discussions regarding the privatization of certain government institutions, amid serious calls to review existing contracts and working mechanisms in response to growing complaints about high administrative fees in service departments.
