Ministry of Water Resources Reassures Public on Strategic Reserves and Confirms Mosul Dam Safety
The Ministry of Water Resources confirmed that water reserve levels in the country are recording positive and reassuring indicators, highlighting a cautious and sustainable management of available resources. This was announced during an inspection tour by the Minister of Water Resources, Muthanna Al-Tamimi, to Nineveh Governorate, where he inspected the strategic Mosul Dam. The Minister explained that periodic maintenance work at the dam is proceeding smoothly and that technical safety indicators are excellent, revealing upcoming contracts with a global consulting firm to develop comprehensive studies for permanent solutions, including the Badush Dam. He also noted that the recent increase in water revenues enabled the ministry to operate the Mosul Dam spillway for the first time in years, while simultaneously calling for rationalizing consumption and investing the current abundance to support the agricultural sector and strategic projects.
