Announcement of a New Border Crossing Project Between Iraq and Saudi Arabia in Najaf Governorate
The local administration in Najaf Governorate has announced its intention to implement a strategic project to establish a border crossing with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project has received initial approval from the Iraqi Prime Minister's office and is currently awaiting official approval from the Saudi side. In a related context, Najaf International Airport is expected to receive its official license from the Civil Aviation Authority soon, following the complete resolution of previously recorded technical observations. On the economic front, local authorities highlighted the importance of oil investments in the governorate, particularly after the drilling of two wells in the Al-Qurnain field, which contains high-quality crude, in addition to promising gas exploration prospects. Furthermore, the governorate is preparing to host an Italian delegation to discuss environmental and waste recycling projects funded by food security allocations.
