Environmental Organization Warns of Economic and Climate Impacts of Food Waste

mesoiraq - The "ENDA" environmental organization warned of the severe environmental and economic consequences of food waste, emphasizing that discarding food strains natural resources and water supplies while accelerating greenhouse gas emissions.

In an official statement, the organization highlighted that environmental protection begins with individual behaviors at home, noting that agriculture and livestock account for nearly 70 percent of global water consumption.

Data indicates that an individual in Iraq wastes an average of 101 kilograms of food per year at home, totaling over 4.5 million tons annually, calling for urgent measures to minimize waste and bolster food security.
