Erbil Traffic Department Issues New Guidelines and Fees for Vehicle Window Tinting

The Erbil Traffic Directorate announced updated regulations regarding vehicle window tinting, establishing an annual fee structure ranging from free authorization up to one million Iraqi Dinars. The updated directives apply to private, commercial, and transport vehicles, as well as vehicles registered in other Iraqi governorates owned by Kurdistan Region residents. Under the new rules, taxis and buses are restricted to a maximum tint level of 50%, with a strict ban on rear and front windshield tinting. Higher tint levels up to and exceeding 80% are permissible for private vehicles under higher annual fee tiers, while unauthorized tinting remains subject to legal fines and penalties.
