Government Official Apprehended in Salah al-Din on Charges of Extortion and Agricultural Market Manipulation

mesoiraq - Competent regulatory authorities announced the apprehension of an official at a grain complex in Salah al-Din province over his involvement in extorting and compromising farmers. Investigations revealed that the suspect received illicit financial sums in exchange for receiving and marketing poor-quality agricultural crops containing impurities, in addition to manipulating crop classifications. The suspect confessed to the charges against him and to striking agreements with several farmers to pass non-compliant shipments. Consequently, judicial authorities decided to detain the suspect and initiate necessary legal proceedings against him in accordance with the penal code.
