Iraqi Judiciary Issues Prison Sentences and Fines Against Investment Commission Officials
mesoiraq - The Federal Integrity Commission announced two in-person court rulings imposing imprisonment and financial fines on two officials—one current and one former—at the National Investment Commission regarding corruption and violations in investment projects. The Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court sentenced the Director General of the Legal Department to one year in prison and a ten million Iraqi Dinar fine for extorting a company in exchange for renewing an investment contract. Additionally, the court sentenced the former acting Director General of the One-Stop Shop Department to four years of rigorous imprisonment and a ten million Dinar fine due to irregularities involving an investment opportunity.
