Iraqi Oil Ministry Reveals Strategic Plan to Diversify Export Outlets and End Gas Flaring
Minister of Oil Basim Mohammed Khudhair announced the government's intention to completely end the flaring of associated gas by the end of 2028 through the development of strategic gas fields to achieve self-sufficiency and halt imports. The Minister revealed that the Ministry has prepared a comprehensive plan to diversify crude oil export outlets and reduce reliance on traditional maritime straits by constructing new export pipeline networks. The plan includes studying memorandums of understanding with international coalitions to build a strategic pipeline connecting Basra to Kirkuk and onward to the port of Ceyhan, with potential branches to the ports of Baniyas and Aqaba. These measures aim to enhance energy security and achieve economic stability in the country.
