Iraqi Railways: Baghdad-Karbala Double-Track Line to Enter Service for Arbaeen Pilgrimage

The General Company for Iraqi Railways announced the continuation of execution works on the double-track railway project connecting Baghdad and Karbala, specifically within the Al-Yusufiyah - Al-Mahmoudiyah section, scheduled to enter actual service during the upcoming Arbaeen pilgrimage. The company's management explained that this new line will directly contribute to increasing the number of daily trips, reducing travel time, and accommodating the massive influx of millions of pilgrims. Operating the double-track line allows for simultaneous and smooth train movement in both directions without interruptions, thereby improving operational efficiency and strict adherence to schedules.
