Major Corruption Network Dismantled in Al-Diwaniyah Municipality Amid Dozens of Arrest Warrants

The Federal Commission of Integrity announced the dismantling of a massive corruption network within the Al-Diwaniyah Municipality, involved in embezzlement, misappropriation of public funds, and illegal profiteering from contracts. The exceptional operation resulted in the issuance of approximately 30 arrest and search warrants targeting officials and employees, including former and current municipal directors. The warrants were executed in coordination with intelligence agencies against individuals involved in supplying materials at inflated prices and submitting fake project reports. Confessions led to the apprehension of key current and former figures, with efforts ongoing to track down remaining suspects. The crackdown also resulted in the seizure of payment vouchers linked to over 9 billion dinars, along with forged departmental stamps, luxury vehicles, and cash. The suspects and seized evidence were referred to the relevant judicial authorities, who ordered their detention and imposed travel bans on connected individuals.
