Parliamentarian Warns of Corruption's Impact on State Stability, Calls for Radical Solutions
MP Mokhtar Al-Mousawi confirmed the lack of accurate statistics regarding the extent of financial waste caused by mismanagement and stalled government projects, warning that corruption has become a deeply rooted issue threatening the stability of state institutions. Al-Mousawi noted that corruption takes multiple forms, most notably the inflation of project costs and the use of complex methods to conceal violations, warning that stolen funds have been transformed into influential economic entities. He emphasized the necessity of objectively evaluating projects from previous governments, viewing the shift toward automation as a positive but insufficient step without a genuine will for accountability. This comes as the Prime Minister's office directed the formation of the "Supreme Sovereign Council for Integrity, Oversight, and Recovery of Public Funds" to bolster anti-corruption efforts.
