Parliamentary and Religious Calls in Najaf to Hold Corrupt Officials Accountable and Recover Public Funds
The Friday prayer leader in Najaf, Sadr al-Din al-Qubanji, emphasized the need to intensify efforts to hold individuals involved in financial and administrative corruption accountable and to recover looted funds for projects that serve the public interest. During his sermon, Al-Qubanji explained that recovering state assets is a fundamental pillar for improving public services and the living conditions of citizens, praising recent efforts to uncover major corruption files. He urged judicial and regulatory authorities to take firm stances to complete ongoing investigations and direct recovered funds toward supporting vulnerable groups, building schools and hospitals, and developing infrastructure. Furthermore, he highlighted the importance of supporting humanitarian causes in the region, stressing the prioritization of dialogue to preserve community stability and protect civilians.
