Recent Scientific Study Debunks the Fixity of Human Personality, Confirming its Malleability
A large-scale research study has shown that the common belief regarding the fixity of human personality lacks scientific evidence. While many believe that fundamental traits such as sociability, responsibility, and openness are unchangeable, data analysis involving approximately 167,000 individuals from multiple countries aged between 15 and 90 proved otherwise. The results confirmed that personality traits change at rates parallel to, and even exceeding, changes in income or social interaction, with conscientiousness and responsibility ranking among the indicators most susceptible to transformation across life stages. While individuals estimate their health changes with reasonable accuracy, they significantly underestimate the magnitude of developments that occur in their personalities over time, with the margin of error for a one-year estimate reaching 90 percent.
