Signing of US-Sponsored Agreement to End Escalation and Secure Borders Between Lebanon and Israel
Israeli diplomatic circles in Washington affirmed that the recently signed agreement with the Lebanese side represents a pivotal step towards restoring stability and preserving regional sovereignty. The Israeli ambassador to Washington explained that the agreed-upon framework ensures the withdrawal of armed factions, specifically Iran-backed groups, from Lebanese territory, paving the way for a sustainable peace process. The signing ceremony took place at the US State Department headquarters, where Washington described the move as the beginning of a new phase of joint efforts. For its part, the Israeli side stressed in official statements the continuation of its military presence in the buffer zone inside Lebanon as a security measure until the armed factions are completely disarmed. The agreement stipulates supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces to deploy in southern areas to establish state control and reorganize security.
