Trade Deficit Between Iraq and Jordan Widens, Exceeding One Billion Dollars
mesoiraq - Recent trade data showed a significant widening in the trade balance gap between Iraq and Jordan during the early months of the current year, recording an increase in Jordanian exports alongside a sharp decline in Iraqi exports.
Statistical data indicated that the trade deficit exceeded the one-billion-dollar threshold, affected by the disparity in trade volume and the weakness of the national export base outside the oil sector, leading to a notable dominance of imports in the local market.
In this context, relevant authorities called for the necessity of reviewing commercial exemption lists and bilateral agreements to achieve the desired balance, as well as stimulating domestic production and developing mechanisms to support national exports to enhance fair exchange between the two countries.
