Water Resources Allocates Funds to Combat "Water Hyacinth" and Takes Strict Measures Against Tigris River Violations

The Ministry of Water Resources announced it has obtained the Council of Ministers' approval to allocate a budget of 5 billion dinars to combat the spread of the "Water Hyacinth" plant, which threatens the country's water wealth. In a related context, the Ministry revealed the detection of 454 violations on the Tigris River by influential entities, confirming that lawsuits have been filed against the violators as they are the main cause of water pollution. The Ministry also noted future plans to construct a barrage in Basra province to prevent the advance of the salt wedge, alongside ongoing diplomatic discussions with neighboring countries to secure Iraq's water rights and increase water releases.
