Launch of a New Round of Talks Between Baghdad and Erbil to Resolve Outstanding Financial Files

The Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) have commenced a new round of official talks in the capital, Baghdad, aimed at resolving outstanding financial files, primarily employees' salaries and the region's financial dues. Informed sources reported that a high-level KRG delegation held extensive meetings with officials from the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Board of Supreme Audit to discuss securing the region's employee salaries for June and mechanisms for implementing the Financial Management Law regarding border crossing revenues. The talks also address ways to implement the comprehensive electronic system "ASYCUDA" to modernize customs operations and find a consensus on mechanisms for regulating revenues and customs tariffs between both parties.
