Prime Minister Reaffirms Government's Commitment to State Monopoly on Arms During Meeting with Tribal Leaders

Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi affirmed on Thursday the government's determination to implement the decision to restrict all weapons to the state, emphasizing that the state is the sole entity authorized to monopolize force. This came during his reception of a delegation of tribal leaders and dignitaries to exchange Eid Al-Adha greetings. Al-Zaidi praised the tribes' role in fostering civil peace and acting as the state's first line of defense, urging them to cooperate in preventing armed conflicts and celebratory gunfire. He also highlighted the government's efforts to shape a new economic identity for Iraq by attracting global investments, asserting a firm rejection of any attempts to extort foreign companies operating in the country.
