Minister of Electricity Directs Urgent Technical Measures to Ensure National Grid Stability During Summer
The Minister of Electricity, Mr. Ali Saadi Wahib, issued urgent directives on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) to the ministry's personnel across all sectors, mandating the necessity to contain lost electrical power and address technical bottlenecks in the system to ensure stable supply during the summer season. A statement issued by the Media Office of the Ministry of Electricity stated that these directives coincide with the expected increase in summer loads and challenges related to the limited supply of imported fuel. The Minister obligated the implementation of intensive emergency maintenance campaigns, rapid response to citizens' complaints, and firm action to remove illegal connections from the national grid. The directives also included expediting the return of several generation units and vital transmission lines to service. The Minister emphasized the importance of the full mobilization of engineering and technical staff, and enhancing coordination between the production, transmission, and distribution sectors, to improve the quality of service provided to citizens and secure the stability of the electrical system during peak times.
