Al-Sudani: Weapon Control is a National Entitlement.. We Are Keen to Pass the Deputy Prime Ministers Agreement

mesoiraq - Former Prime Minister and head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, affirmed today, Saturday (September 12, 2026), that restricting and organizing weapons under state control represents a national and constitutional entitlement, noting that all political forces are keen to abide by the consensuses regarding the naming of the four deputy prime ministers.

Al-Sudani said in a press statement that the process of organizing and restricting weapons is a national entitlement called for by the religious authority and the Iraqi people, and stipulated by the constitution, and is not an implementation of a desire or condition of any party, explaining that the Coordination Framework announced its support for the government's measures, and dialogues are taking place through a leadership committee to develop a plan with a vision and specific timelines without rejection from the concerned parties.

Regarding the political file and government formation, Al-Sudani explained that the political agreement approved the existence of four deputy prime ministers alongside the announced ministerial cabinet, stressing that all parties and political forces are keen and continuing to work on passing this agreement according to the adopted contexts.
