Civil Defense Teams Rescue 50 and Contain Fire in Central Baghdad Building

Iraqi Civil Defense forces successfully evacuated 50 citizens and contained a structural fire that broke out in a commercial and residential building in Baghdad's central Karrada district, with no casualties reported. Civil Defense authorities stated that the fire generated dense smoke and fumes affecting an adjacent residential complex, prompting the deployment of 10 firefighting and rescue units equipped with hydraulic ladder trucks to control the flames and prevent further spread. Rescue operations included retrieving two individuals trapped atop a telecommunications tower on the building's roof. Preliminary investigations indicate the fire originated from grease accumulation within a restaurant's exhaust duct system before spreading to other parts of the facility.
