Iraqi Judiciary Sentences Former MP to 7 Years in Prison for Illicit Enrichment

mesoiraq - The Federal Integrity Commission announced an in-absentia judicial sentence of seven years in prison against a former Member of Parliament, following his conviction in cases related to illicit enrichment and fund inflation.

According to an official statement, the Central Anti-Corruption Criminal Court issued the ruling, which obligates the convicted individual to refund the value of the illicit wealth, amounting to over 14 billion Iraqi Dinars plus more than 12 million US dollars, in accordance with applicable legal frameworks.
