Karbala Police Arrest Fugitive Sentenced to Death after Armed Clash
mesoiraq - Karbala Governorate Police Command announced the arrest of a defendant sentenced to death in absentia following an armed clash involving hand grenades with security forces.
The command stated that, under the direction of the ministry's undersecretary for police affairs and field follow-up by the governorate police chief, Major General Ahmed Ali Zwaini, the Criminal Combat Department detachments managed to capture a defendant sentenced to death in absentia for a murder crime, following accurate intelligence information that pinpointed his location.
It added that a security team headed by the director of the Criminal Combat Department carried out the arrest operation, but the defendant attacked the security force and threw grenades at them in an attempt to escape.
The command confirmed that the detachments managed to cordon off the area, fully control the situation and arrest the defendant after he was injured, without losses among civilians, noting that the necessary legal procedures were taken against him to receive his just punishment.
