Ministry of Justice Launches Electronic Bracelet Project to Automate Financial Transactions in Prisons
The Ministry of Justice announced the completion of the first phase of its digital transformation project, the "Electronic Bracelet," designed to regulate financial transactions within correctional facilities. The initial phase witnessed the issuance of thousands of bracelets linked to electronic payment cards for inmates at the Nasiriyah Central Prison, in collaboration with the state banking sector. This modern system aims to digitize purchasing and deposit operations within commissaries, ensuring the highest levels of transparency and oversight, as well as eliminating price manipulation. The Ministry intends to expand the scope of this project to encompass all correctional institutions in a strategic move to enhance service quality and financially protect inmates' rights.
