Oil Ministry Employee Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Embezzling Over One Billion Dinars in Nineveh
The Federal Integrity Commission announced a 10-year in-person prison sentence for an employee of the Ministry of Oil, following his conviction for embezzling substantial public funds. In an official statement, the Commission clarified that the Nineveh Criminal Court (First Panel) issued the ruling against the employee, who worked at a government-owned fuel station in the governorate, after proving his involvement in embezzling over 1.174 billion Iraqi dinars. Investigations revealed that the embezzled amount represents the total revenue from petroleum derivative sales at the station for August and September 2025. The court confirmed that the conviction was based on conclusive and compelling evidence, handing down the sentence in accordance with Article 315 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
