Parliament Moves to Enact Borrowing Law to Fund Expenditures Amid General Budget Absence
The Parliamentary Finance Committee revealed the Council of Representatives' intention to enact a draft borrowing and grants law for the current year, serving as a temporary legislative alternative in the absence of a federal budget law. The committee explained that this measure, which was discussed with the Ministry of Finance, aims to provide legal cover for internal borrowing funded by the Central Bank, and external borrowing from countries or international institutions. The new law will grant the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Finance the necessary authorities to seek loans in order to secure salary payments and manage the general affairs of the state.
