Parliamentary Demands to Cancel a Government Decision Limiting MPs' Authority to Request Documents and Information
mesoiraq - Iraqi Member of Parliament, Hiyam Al-Yasiri, called on the Parliament Presidency to intervene and cancel a clause in a directive issued by the Council of Ministers that prevents MPs from directly requesting information and documents from government institutions. Al-Yasiri considered the decision a restriction on the Parliament's supervisory role and a clear violation of the Constitution and internal regulations. She called for summoning the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers for questioning regarding this measure, emphasizing the need to amend laws to ensure MPs can freely exercise their supervisory role, away from any legal interpretations by the executive branch.
