Diyala Criminal Court Sentences Convicts to Severe Prison Terms for Embezzling Terror Victims' Compensation Funds
The Diyala Criminal Court has issued ten-year prison sentences against three individuals convicted of embezzling financial funds allocated for the compensation of martyrs and wounded victims of terrorist operations. Judicial authorities revealed that the convicts exploited their official positions within the Diyala Governorate Office to carry out the embezzlement by issuing hundreds of forged checks and transferring funds from the compensation account to the governorate’s operational advance account. The judicial sentences were handed down in accordance with the provisions of the Iraqi Penal Code pertaining to embezzlement and complicity, ensuring the restitution of rights and holding those involved in squandering public funds accountable.
