Iraqi Judiciary Sentences Local Official and His Wife to Severe Imprisonment for Illicit Enrichment

The Nasiriyah Misdemeanor Court has issued a judicial ruling sentencing the Director of Nasiriyah Municipality Properties and his wife, an employee in the city planning department within the same directorate, to five years of severe imprisonment. This ruling follows their conviction for the crime of illicit enrichment and the illegal inflation of wealth, in accordance with the provisions of the Commission of Integrity and Illicit Enrichment Law, as well as the Iraqi Penal Code.
