Iraq and Iran Activate Land Transport Agreement to Boost Trade

mesoiraq - The Iranian Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization announced the implementation of the international land freight transport agreement between Iraq and Iran, a strategic move aimed at developing commercial cooperation between the two nations. The organization confirmed that this agreement elevates trade relations from memoranda of understanding to a regulatory framework, allowing merchants and transporters to use the territories of both countries to transit goods to third-party nations. It clarified that Iraq's accession to international agreements will facilitate the transition from traditional methods to direct transport, easing transit movement and expanding target markets, noting that approximately 7.5 million tons of goods have been transported through Iranian land borders since the beginning of this year.
